Cyclist arrested for stealing bike from car in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (AP) A cyclist who was arrested on suspicion of stealing a bicycle from a car has been released on $100,000 bail, officials said Thursday.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as James Kochel of San Diego, California, but did not provide additional details.

Authorities say Kocher, 29, was spotted riding his bike through a parking lot in downtown San Diego on April 9.

Deputies say Kockett was taken into custody after he failed to turn himself in and left his cellphone on a sidewalk.

He was later arrested and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
